Current Policy Being Considered
A.5322: Enacts the Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act. Requires companies selling, offering for sale, or distributing covered packaging materials and products to reduce consumer packaging, improve recycling and recycling infrastructure, including supporting reusable and refill infrastructure, financially support municipal recycling programs, reduce toxics in packaging and require producers of products to bear the onus for end of life solutions to product packaging.

S.4171: Prohibits the sale or offer for sale of any cosmetic product or personal care product containing PFAS substances.
A.3556: Prohibits the sale of any covered product that contains regulated perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances. Covered products include textile articles, rugs, fabric treatments, cookware, ski waxes, architectural paints, or cleaning products.
S.1650: Enacts the "Private Well Testing Act". Authorizes the department of health to promulgate rules and regulations to establish standards for the testing of drinking water from privately owned wells.
S.7041: Prohibits the use in an industrial plant of any product or substance that contains perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances, including vats, conveyor belts, molds, ovens, pans, pots, chemicals used as mold releasers, lubricants, seals and coatings.

Safer States—New York
A 6296: Requires manufacturers of children's products containing dangerous chemicals to notify the state and retailers; bans the sale of children's products containing dangerous chemicals. (Adopted in 2019)
S 7167: Prohibits the manufacture and sale of firefighting foam containing PFAS, requires manufacturers of firefighter protective equipment to disclose the inclusion of PFAS in their products. (Adopted in 2020)
S 8817: Prohibits the use of food packaging containing PFAS chemicals. (Adopted in 2020)
S 6291A: Prohibits the use of perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances in apparel as an intentionally added chemical. (Adopted in 2022)
A 09279: Establishes a carpet collection program. Beginning December 31, 2024, prohibits the sale of carpets containing perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances. (Adopted in 2022)
S 439: Prohibits the manufacture, sale, and distribution for use of firefighting foam containing PFAS. (Adopted in 2019)
